Gigastudio + MPC

I've recenctly been playing with this combination, and i have to say: it's fantastic! all of the sequencing power of the mpc with all of the sampling power of gigstudio. if you have an audio interface with GSIF driver, which is what gigastudio requires, it really is like having a hardware sampler, except you get unlimited sample size as the samples are streamed from the hard disk. so all notes on a piano could be sampled at like 192kHz 24Bit and be as long as the note is, with no looping! plus you can do several velocity layers too! i think it's something like 16!

Anyone else use it?

I would like to try that out, i have a tascam us-428 will that work for the sound card part? and if so how do i set it up?

yeah that should work fine providing you have the GSIF drivers installed for it. You can check that by right clicking on 'My Computer' on the start menu, then clicking 'Properties' then on the window that opens up click on the 'Hardware' tab. Next click on the 'Device Manager' button. Now find your audio interface under 'Sound, video and game controllers' and somewhere it should say the name of your interface followed by GSIF at the end. If it doesn't try reinstalliing the drivers with the GSIF option checked. That's all you have to do as gigastudio will automatically detect whether or not you have a GSIF-capable audio interface, and if you do, it's done!

My Echo MIA card has GSIF drivers, but I never used GigaStudio yet. I forget if it was included on the original CD Rom for the MIA, so I gotta check that out.

definitely worth it, it's like having a hardware sampler with an infinite amount of RAM! the program works at the kernel level, so it bypasses all of windows' inefficiencies to give you low latencies. Quality.
