OS 2.1 Pains - Please read first post.

Hey wutz good,

I am new to the mpc just got it a week ago and im already having problems. I am trying to upload the new OS 2.10 and it is not working at all. It deletes and loads everything like it is suppose to but it does not load the os and nothing comes up on the lcd. I turned it off and on again and the screen i just backlit with no words. I am wondering whats the deal wit this. I had to revert back to os 1.07. I also have new ram in here kingston 256mb, the hdm10 kit, and a toshiba 40gb hard drive. The drive is formatted through the mpc and everything seems to be working. I really would like to have os 2.1 to use my dam hd to store samples. I looked for a thread or post about 2.10 not loading and could not find one so hopefully someone can help. Any one know wutz the problem or got some advice?

You sure the file wasn't corrupted when it got downloaded? Most likely to happen if you're on dialup and the download prematurely disconnects. Try grabbing the file again.

I had no problem updating, so I'm sorry if I'm not any help.

when i apply a certain level of attack to a drum hit it will play the hit and then the next 3-4 pads. very odd. tried everything to get it to stop but the only way is to just not use the attack. pz

please give me more info so i can duplicate it, if possibe - this hasn't happened to me and i use like every permutation of attack and 4 pads...

what kind of samples? note on? oneshot? lengthy ones? short ones? do you have filters applied? is the seq. playing when you're doing this?

first i want to say welcome to the boards and congrats on your purchase of the 1k. the machine is a monster, despite its size.

now, your problem, unfortunately is not unique and has happened to quite a few people here. reload the new OS according to the directions and if the same thing happens again, after installation, take out the CF card and turn off the mpc. when you turn it back on, hold the erase button down until it comes back up. you should be good to go.

Ant, I have yet to reproduce this bug. Still haven't had enough time to really get some beats moving, but I tried reproducing it tonight and no luck. I used both some long phrase samples, a patch phrase sample, and even short kick drums.

I tried multi-dubbing both filter and pitch sweeps, and get the normal "glitchtech" or whatever we're calling the sound where it jumps from one point to another rather than the smoothe sweeps that one might expect (since this is adding to but not actually overdubbing, which is a misnomer in this situation) but no lengthened sequence and certainly no added bars or whatever.

I dunno what else to try, have you sorted this out yet?
