Reliability??

Here's the deal.
I'm into making House music but to be quite honest i'm sick of watching that Damn cursor moving left to right on my pc monitor, so i've started experimenting with an alesis mmt8 that i picked up cheap.
I love this thing, for the first time i've started to make music with my imagination instaed of getting caught up in how organised my blocks look on the monitor! Anyone else get this?

This has got me seriously considering an Mpc. I really love love the mmt8 for it's immediacy but it really shows it's limitations when you need to add some real groove, you know, a bit of swing for example.
My question is, and this was one of the biggest reasons for me going down the hardware route is which Mpc is the most realiable??
I'm sick of things locking up all the time and i just want something that's gonna work and be there for me, know what i mean!!

I've done a little searching on this forum and from what i can tell the older Mpc's(60,3000) are the most reliable but to be honest i would much rather buy a more up to date 1000 or a 2000.
So my other question is to those that have owned a 2000/xl and who have or currently own a 1000 which have you found the most reliable coz as it seems to me i would be able to make good tracks on both these machines but reliability is a big issue for me??

I can tell you from years of experience that the akai product is built to take a beating. Things that usually go wrong with one of these products usually are small things that you can get repaired locally. Of all the years I’ve owned my 2k the only thing that went wrong with it was the screen, which turned out to be a defect on most mpc2ks. However I wouldn’t let that stop you from getting one because they are the best at what they were meant to do.

i feel that the mpc 1000 is tight as a bra that is about to break loose...joke.

really, for house the mpc 1000 is the biz.

its extremely tight. i make stuff for RnB production. and on the side i have a desire for house and 2 step garage.

i used to use mainly Logic Audio to programme drums...have also used an mpc 2000xl.

to be honest you can anything as the saying goes, but if your looking for something that has a super tight clock without having to look out for delays then the 1000 is the best thing out there.

i have been making beats forover 2 weeks on this 1000, sometimes through my studio monitors and in the late night through my big headphones...and beleive me the internal clock on the mpc 1000is fu*kin tight...you wont notice a delay...ever.

for house and dance stuff this is vital.

also as for reliabilty...well ime from the UK...and mine has not crashed once...not once.

i have used most features, like FX, Q Sliders, USB transfering, Sampling, 16 Levels, Full Level, Filters, mixer, etc...it works like a dream.

just cop a 1000.

its way better than buying a 2000xl.

You say you've never had any problems apart from very minor things but what about crashing coz i've read a few posts from poeple saying they've struggled with regular crashes. Are these poeple on the minority who have bought unlucky units or is it quite common place for a 2000/xl to lock up?
I'm just trying to get a feel for how stable these machines are.

ive had my 1000 since the 24th of december. I have no had 1 crash yet. I just about used every little thing so far besides midi, which im getting a keyboard pretty soon. I think the 1000 is the way to go. I never produced house but the mpc really can do anything. Since you do everything with your computer, it wont be hard to get samples because you can just transfer them(as long as they are in .wav format)

i never had any crashes or freeze ups with my 2k. remember i have the 2k not the 2kxl. as far as with the 1k, no crash or lock up at all. and i leave my equipment on 24/7 and then some. just put your equipment on a sturdy desk and you will be fine.

When you see people like "mike2424" on this forum bull-shitting, those are the kinda people that just want you not to have something they want, or they are mad that they have something else but dont have the money to get what you have, so they try to downgrade the product. The mpc1000 to me, now "to me", means my opinion, gives me more options then my 2000 did, and I think it sounds a little better. TO ME. It all depends on what you like. baichai has some pretty good tracks using the MPC1000, take a listen to his stuff.
