Wheneve I go to trim my samples it always plays them really loud and distorted and was wondering what the deal with that is? they are almost twice as loud when I enter trim mode.

turn down your global volume. you're on full velocity, aren't you?

mine never distort, but they're pretty damn loud

Alright they don't distort anymore when I turn down the global volume but when I exit trim mode my samples are still a lot more quiet than in trim mode. I haven't messed with the velocities so i'm using whatever is the default settings. Is there a way to adjust just the trim velocity? or any other way I can balance the sound of the samples between both modes?

unfortunately, no, you can't adjust trim volume.

usually i operate with my samples up close to 100 all the time. this makes the actual play closer to the trim volume, then turn the volume knob down.

this has eliminated most of this problem for me.
