Mono and Polyphony?

I'm sure there's a simple answer for this..

I want to play some chords on 16 levels so I need to set the sample to polyphony, but i would like them to stop immediatley as i play the next chord, so I need to set the sample to mono. Is there a way to play more than one pad on 16 levels in mono/polyphony that will cut as soon as the next is played?

P.s, I thought about just cutting the sample to the length I need it, but on 16 levels the length of the sample changes..

load the same sample in 16 different programs and tune them... or use the amp envelope

how about using layering so that each pad plays a different chord. (ie major, minor, 7, whatever you're using)

i guess if you want more than 4note chords thats harder.
