sorry but i tried to look thru that sticky but, if i go and buy a 1 gig cf card and i dont dont replace anything in my mpc, how much memory do i have to do everything????

how much time will i have to record samples make seq.. and so on basically how many mb will show up???

I'll help because i've gotten help on this forum before.

the cf card is only for storage, meaning you cant sample directly to it, that's what ram is for. you gotta buy more ram for this thing, without a question. Mine is coming in the mail as we speak.

look at that sticky for ram reccomendations, buy that, and also get a nice big flash card to store your patches/samples/sequences/porn/PIN number/loverletters

i just bought a 1 gig sandisk flash card and it doesnt say anything has changed!
my recoring sample time is still 33 seconds!! please help im ripping my hair out !! i need to sample !!!

you need to learn to start reading/posting in the newbie forum. the guy above your last post answered your question. buy more ram.

and, you should be able to make at least one track with 33 seconds.

most of my samples r long loops and , im trying to make a full beat!! so i cant do anything basically wit this flash card as far as loading more sounds????

the flash card can be used for loading sounds, but if you use long loops, there's nowhere you can load them to without getting the ram upgrade.

oasis, please read this very slowly and try to understand the difference.

CF card comes in different sizes. such as 1 gig like you have. that is for saving your files to and loading your files from. ONLY the cf card is not the medium to sample to.

RAM... straight out of the box, you have 16mb of RAM but can only work off of 11mb of RAM due to the samples/songs/seqs that are stored in the mpc's "internal memory"(RAM) this is what you work from when making beats and/or sampling. this is what will determine how long of a sample you can have as well as how many other samples you can work on at a time. you will not notice this number changing regardless of what size CF card you buy and use. if you want to see that number change or work on larger samples, you must upgrade your RAM. it was stated to you to look in the sticky again and pay close attention to the posts regarding RAM not CF card. here's a hint... you want to look for something like this, if you don't go with the akai EXM128 you want 256MB 144pin SoDIMM PC133 CL3 RAM.

So you mean that if I buy a 256MB ram, the MPC will recognize the full 256MB or it will still only recognize 128MB?

no. it will only read 128mb.

please read that sticky regarding CF cards and RAM. i gave a full explaination of why 256 will only read 128.
