Question for '247Beatz': please

how do you shift time only the snare drums on the mpc 1000.

mpc3000 dude helped but he was slightly unclear.

say i have a 2 bar loop.

i now want to shift my 'snares' 1 tick later.

how???

Its in the manual but here goes anyway:

1. Make sure your snares are on their own track
2. Go into SEQ EDIT
3. Change EDIT mode to MOVE
4. Move your cursor across to Start Field and then to the Ticks Field.
5. Adjust the Start Field to one tick later
6. You can set the Mode to REPLACE or MERGE
7. Press DO IT

It definately works no problem....i just did it then when typing out the instructions. Maybe earlier/later function like 2000xl would be nice but this still is pretty fast.

^^^yeah what he said and also dont forget to hit the pad (snare) u want to move back a tick, change it from all.

when you say 'snares' on a separate track...

do you mean kick on track 1

then snares on track 2.

or no...

If you are going to do this, why don't you just send him a PM instead of wasting an entire thread? Regardless, you could have used any one of the previous threads that you already started on this very topic instead of starting yet another new one. Please show a little courtesy instead of cluttering the place up.

I does not have to be this way. To move an inidividual note (sample), just press the pad in the Seq Edit screen. You will see `ALL` change to the selected note (sample).

This function is not dependant on whether you record everything one track or only one thing on a track. Like I already mentioned "The select pads all got moved one tick".

Roopesh, If you select the snare u wanna move by hittin the pad it will only move that selected item. You can select up to 4 diff pads to move at once but you got to take it out of merge on the right hand side.

the easiest way to separate your kick, snare etc in mpc is to just copy the track 3 times. That would give you 4 I dentical tracks then what you do next is if you want just the kick on track 1 then delete the snare, hihat etc... you can do this by clicking erase then go on events and when it is highlighted just click the pad of the snare then click do it...... do the same for hihat.... then go on track 2, delete kick and hat pads voila u got kick on track 1 snare on track 2

I just hit Track + after lay the kick and snare, then press it again when anything new is added.
No Stopping, No time wasted copying tracks and deleting.

i.e. shifting the snares 1 tick 'before' its 'on the beat'.

now take the 2 snares 1 tick forward (as in earlier)
