24 bit samples

I' ve got a bunch of samples in 24 bit format on my computer that won't play in my MPC....just wondering if there are any programs that allow you to change a number of files at any one time from 24 bit to 16 bit? At the moment I am having to load each individual file into Audacity and changing the sample format through that, but this takes a looong time.

most programs have a bulk sample converter. i know wavelab which i use does and im pretty sure soundforge does as well. if you need them done i would be willing to help you out for free man.

Thanks for the offer EYEO, but I've managed to convert them, it just takes a while. I was just wondering for future reference how to do it faster. I don't have soundforge.

make sure you don't truncate audio data make sure that whatever you convert with uses a dither.

In the convert preference of iTunes you can choose what you convert to...usually mp3...instead just change it to wav 16 bit, drop all yer samples in, highlight em all and click convert...hope that helps

I doubt dither will make a difference here. This is an mpc were talking about, its fine if its a little bit grungy. Try doing a comparison with dither and not and see if you can tell the difference (have someone play the files for you so you dont know which is which).
