Well after a day of solid beat making I am finally a true believer. This MPC is the coolest piece of equipment I have ever used. And I say this after loosing almost every thing I did today.

Thats right, when I saved an ALL file to the CF and then tried to access it on my computer I got a bunch of garbage about corrupt directories. There were all these duplicated files and when I would delete them they would reappear. It was a little freaky and very frustrating.

Oh well. I reformatted the CF and now I'll just start over.
My plan is to avoid ALL files and try to back up more regularly.
I think picking up a CF reader sounds like a good idea too.

I also have not updated my OS, but I'm fairly ambivalent after what I have read in this forum...

ive had no problems on any of the o.s's yet. the best thing to do is try. if you lose something, you can always make a better beat. thats the way i look at it.

you HAVE to, there's no other choice.

hybrid, the same thing happened to me today. well, sort of. i get gibberish back off the CF after loading. like, i'll load in a folder and it'll sound totally different than how i KNOW, for sure, i saved it 200 times before loading it.

im gonna make a new thread about this cuz i also think the 1k is an amazing amazing instrument, but losing my work for a week straight is gettin OLD. maybe akai can look here for stuff to fix in future OS's.

I think when you choose the "save all seq and progs" option it duplicates everything on the card because I have had this happen twice now and it sucks

try saving everything as a project file.

Yea, 247beatz is right. That is how I'm saving my work and I never lost anything since I got my MPC1000. Just save the entire memory i one folder, and you don't have to do anything else. I have noticed that when you save all sequences and songs, the setting on the mixer is not saved, and few other things are missing to, but when you save the entire memory (Project), everyting is the same when you open it the next time.
I strongly recomend saving only the Project and forget about all the other options. This will make all your trubles and frustrations go away :)

ALso, this file duplication thing, I actually find usefill. When I'm done with the beat, I back it up on my PC and everytinhg is in one folder. That way, when I want to go back to that beat, few months later, everything is there and I don't have to waist time looking for samples that were moved.
