No Sound From Pads??

My friend just bought this, I use the 2000xl so I tried helping him out. He has the latest OS installed and assigned his sounds to the pads. Checks the program params to make sure they are assigned just incase. Goes to the main screen and no sound comes out of any of the pads when he hits them. They play when you audition to load but not once they're loaded. Is this an OS bug or machine glitch that should be returned?

do you have the right program selected on the main screen?

Do you have your monitors on?

Yep made sure a new program is selected. Tried reinstalling the OS, renaming the program, assigning it to each pad. This is odd to me.

what do you mean by "new program"? make sure its the "right" program. also do you have the wrong bank selected?

oh yeah, check your mixer settings and track volume.

I own a 2000xl I know how to operate an MPC. You're asking me some dumbass newbie shit. yes it's on the right program, yes the mixer is turned up and assigned correctly, yes my monitors are on, and yes i'm on the right bank.

A quick way of checking if it´s a manual problem with the pads or a software problem is to insert notes in step edit and see if the samples play from the seq.
If they do there is most likely a hardware communication problem between the pads and the sampler.
If they don´t it´s either a software malfunction or config problem.
