hi guys,
i loaded a new program yesterday and worked on it with no problem.
today i wanted to load it again and when i went into the folder to load the program i find 4 new folders??? with some strange characters as names???, after this i tried to go back to root but all the other folders would dissapear......
then i tried to delete it with my computer: i open the mpc1000 disk and i can see all my folders but the one bringing this problem is no more a folder but an UNIX EXECUTABLE FILE. i have no idea what this is and if i delete it(thrash), it appears again by itself so i can't get rid of that **** file...

i kept trying to fix this and finally i got : CPU Adress error.
WTF???

would appreciate any help.
peace.

...i'm running mac os.

thanx

ps: tomorrow i'll have a talk with an expert, i think he will make it.

What do you see when you select the file and choose "show info" on your Mac?
Maybe the file is locked and you can unlock it, then trash it?

thanx cowbell,
i've tried this from the 1st. time. the file was not locked....and it still won't delete.

i've finally made a backup on my pc and formatted the mpc 1000 disk. the file dissapeared.....

copying back the files to the memory card right now.
logically this should work just right. in case it's not, i'll post up again...

peace

i posted something like this a few weeks ago. a unix file was in one of my folders . someone suggested it was a mac thing that was related to my trashing some other folders or files but i still don't really know what it is/was.
i deleted mine and it hasn't returned.........yet.......

i'm having all sorts of other problems though...... uggghhhhh. see my latest post concerning a dead screen with pixels all over the place

It would be a Mac thing - OS X is derived from FreeBSD, a free UNIX variant. My guess is that the crash is a protective feature, you really don't want any outside executable code running on there at all!

I have had the same "unix executable file" And can't remove it either untill now. I realiesed that if you make a folder somewhere else having the exact same name, and drag in into to folder containing the "unix executable file" then it will replace it, or rather it does disapear!!!!

Very strange, but a work around. I a pretty sure it's the MPC ver.2.10 that is **** up things when saving, I have lots of other strange behaviors lately where things i made and safed the day before is all worng the day after when I load it again.
