I'd say get one as cheap as possible with a warentee, new if possible.
I bought mine 2nd hand w/ no warantee and regret it.
But sayin' that I saved about £200 ($400)

Thanks for your input guys. I just like to hear where other people stand with their purchases, but everyone is different I suppose.

It's just that I read somewhere that beats bang harder when they are made with the black MPC1K...

PEACE!!!

Everything at the guitar center is negotiable no prices are set in stone. I bought the MPC 1000 BK from Guitar Center In San Diego, CA. for $799 + tax brand new. I was in the same position your in I think stay with your gut feeling if you want the black one shop around and find a good deal.

BUY IT NEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BECAUSE IT HAS WARRENTY!!!!!! Who cares if you save 100+ dollors from a used one, the warrenty is worth much more if it ever suffers damage or something serious then your going to feel like a dumb ass.

Yeah, I guess I should add that my second-hand MPC came with a warranty and the usual 30 day return from a music store. A warranty is certainly a nice security blanket to have ...
