Convince me... 8o)

I was looking at the Roland SP808EX, and the MPC-2000xl. I would love to have a 2000xl, but it was twice the cost of the 808EX.

So now, enter the MPC1000. If I am phrase sampling and the Boss sp505 and the Roland 808EX are phrase samplers, will the 1000 be over kill for phrase sampling? I already have a box that will handle most if not all of my Midi, and I have a laptop to do the transfer of sounds into an MPC1000.

Should I go for it, or will I regret the results.

After reading some posts... I realize that the MPC1000 can prove to be a very valuable tool.

Is there anyone out there using their MPC1000 with a computer, recycle or other audio editing software and then dumping the samples down to the MPC1000?

I was just curious at how much of a big deal it is to work with...

I use it with Reaktor, my Nord Modular, Alesis DMPro, and a Paia Fatman I made (plus the usual samples)...So, in the studio, it's basically used as a sequencer and sampler. But when I hit the road, I can sample everything else and just bring the little guy (though I bring the Nord since I use it as great filters on the AUX outs).

If you're using windows XP or 2000, it's as easy as saving to a hard drive. The mpc acts like a USB hard drive when connected to the PC. No special software or drivers. Can't get any simpler. It's basically how everyone is doing it, that's how the MPC1000 was intended to work.

You can sample phrases, but it is so much more than a phrase sampler, try it and see for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

My half completed other cabinate has 2 Oscillators, 1 VC LFO, 3 filters, 1 mixer / attenuator module, & 1 VC EG with a cycle mode.

I also fix / modify stuff.

Nothing midi or anything, I control it (when I want to) with a Frostwave Midi to CV.

I play Digeridoo too.

I use Recycle to chop up samples and then dump it into my MPC1000. It works like a charm. Recycle is really easy to learn you'll be chopping up samples and using them in your beats in no time.

I figured that Recycle was the choice piece of software for sample editing. I can't wait to get mine. I will probably get my new MPC1000 at the end of March or the beginning of April.

I am probably going to get the 128mb memory upgrade right away, but what would the difference be between the 128mb of ram versus the CF card?

you can't save any data in the internal memory, you must use the CF card to save your work. the RAM memory is used by the mpc to store data while you're using it (for example you can record a longer sample if you have more RAM)

according to AKai 2Gb. but if you use a computer it's far too much! i bought a 128Mb card, i think it's enough
