I heard that the MPC 1000 doesn't have bpm detection so that if you sample a phrase you would not be able to determine the tempo. Is that true?

clearly explains your level of talent.

You can get along without it, BPM match is like cheating to me, I use an original mpc2000 and it doesn't have it, I work around it...

Sure it does. I own a 2000, and it's always had BPM detection on the last page of the Trim screen. I used to use it all the time when I was too lazy to deal with Tap headaches. And I do wish the 1000 had it.

Tank, (or anyone) how or I should say where is this screen on the 2K?
not sure if I know what your saying.

also, anyone know where to find this screen on a 2Kxl?
I will be using a 2xl this weekend while my 1k is on its way to akai.
this would dbe a cool thing to try out, I never knew my 200 had that before I sold it. this would have been super useful in the past, how well does it work?

Shift + 5 to enter Trim mode, it'll be on the last page. Haven't had my 2000 powered on in a bit, but I believe it's right there. I think on an XL the number of bars data will automatically be filled in to 2 or something, on a non-XL you'll have to input the number of bars and the MPC will spit back a decent guess at the bpm of the loop, long as you cut it well.

I didn't know about that... never tried it, no real need to... but thanks for the info Thynctank... I'll be sure to check it out and see if I like it, I probably won't really use it anyways being that I learned to do beats by working around it. Just goes to show that no matter how much you know your machine, you always learn something new...
