Please help, hard drive...

What up,
I recently purchased a TOSHIBA 40GB MK4025GAS. Being no real wizard with installing hard drives, I still attempted to upgrade my mpc. I first installed the adapter kit and then the hard drive. When I went to my load/save screen and switch it to the hard drive, the lettering for what is labeled in the HD is gibberish. Do yall know if there's anything else I must do before using th HD. I also did USB and on my computer drive it was not recognized. Please help! I'm stressing and have run out of room on my CF.

i'm a little confused.... you said you installed the HDM10 first then you installed the hard drive... how did you do that?

you have to screw the hard drive onto the hdm10 then put that in the mpc then format the hard drive using the mpc, not the computer.

bort a brand new toshiba hard drive (mk 1032gax, 100gb, 5400rpm 16mb)
to back up all my cards. Screwed it in right but every time i try to install with os 2.1 it says formatting for a bit then says system error in black.
when i try to save to it it says disk is full

any suggestions? pls help
