software synth and 1k

before i buy any more sh*t will this setup with the 1k work.

midi controller connected to computer via usb, controlling the software synth, midi out* from controller (*only midi connection on controller) to midi in on 1k, and finally midi out on 1k to midi in on computer via external midi connection i.e. motu fastlane. With all this in place i want to be able to record midi controller performance into 1k, and on playback the software synth will play back performance. The complication is that the particular software synth only has midi in. Will this setup work?

If I understand u correctly. You want to use software as a sound module with your MPC? If so then yes u can do that.
