2000XL Programs - No Sound

What up World,

I just copped the MPC 1000 a few days ago and started off by loading some programs and sequences created on the XL. I load, make sure the tracks are set for the right program, push Play and NOTHING. (I also checked the track and master volume, outs, etc...)

In fact, when I start pressing the pads I get NOTHING.

I did a search before posting this topic and terminill posted the same kind of problem but we couldn't find a resolution.

So I'm asking those of you who use Program files from the XL if you've experienced this problem and any other problems.

Well, I worked on it for 2 hours yesterday and I got my XL Programs loaded with samples. The funny thing is that I usually load particular programs, I got to Load screen, switch the Type to Program and go to the exact Program and load. When I did this I was having the problems.

Yesterday I went to the Load screen, Type = Program but I loaded from the Folder....not the exact program.

I will play with this some more this evening.

But the important thing is that the Program was retrieved, the sounds were match to the right pad...

Oh, and Midi Files contain the performance data but it does not include
Track Names. Which means I will have to go Load all my Programs with the their MIDI files and name each track JUST FOR THE 1000.

Yeah, that's what the manual says also.

Well, the samples that aren't being recognized by the 1000 all start with a question ? ex. ?Bass808....I'm not sure why this is happening. The sample was recorded and created in the XL and name accordingly. For some reason when it loads to the 1000 a "? "is added to the name.

At first I thought it was due to the name being too long but even samples with only 6 or 7 characters show up with the "?" in front.

It's not a big problem as most of my programs work fine. But it's worth looking into so I will continue to check it out and post my finds.

Is that particular sample a SND file, in the 2kxl save all samples as wav and you won't have tht problem.

1k LOVES wav files.
