definitely man, definitely

they're powerful little tools for what they are, and it's cool that we even have em

i mean
lfos on a 1000...who'd have thought...granted they could be cooler but then again i could be doing all my lfo work in acid using dx plugins. it's just nice to have them at this early stage of music developement to help build the instruments that i'm using

you see what i mean though that they can bring darker samples back to life? esp downpitched ones that tend to be murky?

that would be cool, but i kinda meant that the LFO followed the pithch of the keyboard, so, the higher you go on the keyboard, the faster the LFO. makes for some interesting results. again, though, like i said before, you'd need a keygroup program on the 1k for it to be at all possible, because otherwise the midi note are likely to be all over the place.

hope this helps.

Free running LFO´s would be great, but one of the greatest setbacks with the 1000´s LFO´s are that you can´t specify wheter they shall modulate the parameters in a negative or positive manner. This is really annoying, as it is now it takes the value that the given parameter has and uses it as a center value, modulating an equal amount above it as well as below it.
If you could lock it to work either above or under the parameters value you have total control in how you want to treat the sounds, not having to compromise and get shit running off real high and quirky when you want to create something deep and brooding, or the other way around.

good idea, or possibly a couple of controls which allow you to alter how far above and below the lfo alters the set value. so one for positive 'gain' and one for negative 'gain'.

As a workaround, you could take the pitch/filter frequency/whatever of the pad down/up so that it is 'recentred' in such a way that your LFO is now working as you like.

An untried example , so could be completely wrong... : Say you'd like the lfo to move your pitch between 0 and 10 steps down from the original. In the program, re-pitch your sample by -5 and set the LFO range to 10. Does that make any sense at all? As I say, I've not tried it so it could be a load of cobblers. It wouldn't quite be what you want, since the pitch wouldn't start at the right point in the LFO cycle. Maybe adjusting the LFO's pre-delay in conjunction some kind of programming of pitch events to move the sample pitch down from 0 to -5 could help?

As I say, probably way off the mark. If not impossible to understand.

I just spotted that too. Spooky.

I just had another thought about this offset LFO business; if it's pitch or filter, you could use the envelope to take it down to your new centre-point, and then the (delayed) LFO can kick in and modulate around this centre.

I'd also like to see free-running LFOs. That would be a cool feature, and save some step-editing (although that might ruin a lot of the fun, right?)

ucacjbs, that´s some good thinking. Although it´s a lot of hassle it´ll be worth it when I really need it.
