system error then everything freezes up when trying to save.anyone with similar problems

Anyway, long story short, my CF card had a bunch of data corruption on it, so I backed it up (copied the whole thing to the PC) then I formatted the card (in the MPC), and copied all the files back onto it. That fixed the problem of the card being reported as full when it actually wasn't.
Then everything was going fine for a while... no more errors.
Then, inevitably, the errors started coming back. First, only DIRECTORY ERRORs, which I didn't think were a big deal since whenever I got them, I simply re-saved and it saved fine. But after getting DIRECTORY ERRORs for a while, the damn SYSTEM ERRORS and crash problem came back.
So my guess is that when you start getting the DIRECTORY ERRORs, you are actually getting file corruption. Then after you get too many corrupt files, thats when the SYSTEM ERRORs start up. I think it was being caused by overwriting files, since I was getting the errors mostly on the files I had overwritten the most.
Here's the solution I came up with.... I've posted it many times, but what the hell, here it is again. Remember to backup and reformat first so you can get rid of the corruption you already probably have, then use this saving method and you will avoid the corruption in the future. Since I started doing it this way, I have had no more errors. No DIRECTORY ERRORs and no SYSTEM ERRORs.
It looks like more of a pain-in-the-ass than it actually is... well worth it if you want to make sure you don't lose any more files or work.

4. Here's where the "refresh" comes in... So after closing the directory tree (step 3), you should be
back in the main SAVE dialog. Move the cursor up to the field at the top where you select where you
want to save (i.e. MEMORY CARD or INTERNAL MEMORY or HARD DISK if you have one). I then change the
option to INTERNAL MEMORY, and then I change it back to MEMORY CARD. That's the "refresh". Now the
directory tree correctly reports that the folder was, in fact, deleted.
5. I then hit NEW to make a new folder, then in the NEW FOLDER dialog I hit PASTE (since i copied the
name of the folder in step 1).
6. Then I SAVE ENTIRE MEMORY to the folder I just re-created.
I'm assuming this method would work for saving to the hard drive too, but I haven't been able to test
that since I don't have a hard drive installed.
As far as I can tell, it is the combination of not overwriting, and "refreshing" that has eliminated the
error for me. since I have been saving like this I have had ZERO errors. Give it a try and let me know
if it works for you.
I would recommend a backup and reformat if you have been having the error a lot because you probably
have some corruption already on the disk which could cause additional headaches later.
Hope that helps, and I hope AKAI can get their saving function working properly soon.
