Is there any way to tell what type or brand of hard drive a laptop has in it with out opening it. I got a damn near new VAIO with a 30 gig HD in it.....but the part where you connect the adapter is broken....and I haven't used it since the battery went dead back in '03. I'm wondering if I should snatch the HD out and see if I can use it in the 1000, or just pay the 150 and get the laptop fixed....and purchase a HD for the MP???????? It's a SONY VIAO NV-170...if any one knows anything about this....or has suggestions....HOLLA at me.......!

it's not the adapter itself, but where you plug the adapter in.....I guess your right though....it doesn't cost that much to get it fixed.....thanx for the feed back
