ASR-10 (HELP!!!!!)

Hi I just got an Ensoniq ASR-10 and am trying to sequence it with the MPC 1000. I have the ASR in Multi mode so that all 8 of it's instruments are seperate, I can record the first instrument I want (by playing on the asr's keyboard) but then when I try to add another track with a differant instrument on the asr it does not record the performance on the MPC.....I can't figure out if it's the mpc or the asr ........well I know some of you guys work with both......PLEASE HELP !!!!!!

Ok.....I just figured out that I can play the second instrument on the mpc 1000's pads and record it.....but I can't play my second performance/instument on the asr's keyboard and record after I have recorded the first track useing the asr's keyboard.....hope this makes sense
