it'd be cool if you could save Chop Presets - but it'd be mroe convenience if the mpc just remembered where your chops were in the file. definitely.
i wouldn't look to akai for that, though.
what i've been saying would be amazing is a padchop function. there'd be a visual scrolling device which'd show you where you are in the sound you're playing (think sound forge). as you listen, you "chop" accordingly by hitting pad 1, 2, 3, etc. then you go back, zoom and edit. it'd basically just be a quick way of hammering out chops. useful for things without transients - strings for instance. a lot less guess/check work.
this is not my idea, but i'm a major advocate. i think it's brilliant.
i know exactly what ur talkn that would be sweet about the scrolling part i was shocked they didnt add that with this os, as for the punch in and out that be cool to. it be very useful for for what im tryn to do
man im bitter i really wish the mpc1000 could remember my chop placements. welp for now the only way i can is by saving it as a patch phrase but i cant move the chops to a newer location but atleast ill be able to extract. i would have to rechop the original witch takes a while. i dont wanna use the entire sample the reason why is because the guy who gave me these samples isnt the best of a keyboardist hes got his own unique time sig and he refuses to use time correction on his gigastudio. plus sense these samples he gave me are huge and take up majority of my workspace in the mpc i have to cut it small. i got 128mb of ram installed but these sampels are huge the ones he gave me lol. good thing what hes playing is like 7 notes out of 45. those 7 notes are all i need to recreate the original sample but finding the perfect notes out of this clutterd mess is a hunt. ya hes a messy player some parts sound good some are just to wackd
