New to my MPC1000 just getting the hang things and it's going pretty well. Currently, making a song goes like this,

-record Sq:1 (a bassline)
-copy Sq:1 to Sq:2
-over dub Sq:2 (a bassdrum)
-copy Sq:2 to Sq:3
-over dub Sq:3 (more drums)

This is all to create a song that goes something like Sq:1, Sq:1, Sq:2, Sq:3 etc. My question is, do I really have to keep copying the Sq's or is there some way to say run a bassline for 36 bars and start Sq:2 on the 4th bar, layering Sq's rather than sequencing them? Perhaps I'm missing something conceptually, any help would be great.

you know that each sequence is made up of tracks right??

you record events to a track and they all combine to make one sequence, then in the song directory you just put the sequences in whatever order you want them
