Ableton can midi slave to the MPC very easily.

One way to use them together is to put your loops or keymapped samples into ableton and do the drum in the MPC.

You can warp edit the samples/loops to get them tight and add FX in the way metafor described.

When you have the drums done you can move the midi sequence over to Ableton's midi clip along with your drum sounds and start arranging in ableton.

If you like working on the MPC think of what ableton offers that the MPC can't do and try to incorporate that.

The thing that initially made ableton so popular was its time stretching/warping abilities. They are great.

This in combination with the techniques metafor described make for an excellent setup.
