Need some help with my sandisk 128 MB card

Hello everybody im a newbie here on the forum, I just bought a MPC 1000 and I picked up a sandisk 128 MB card when I put it in the screen just went blank and stayed blank even after I ejected the card is this normal? am I using the wrong kind of card or could it be the MPC? I don't know shit but im trying to learn please give me some help I will be very grateful

Or it may have nothing to do with the card. I brought a floor model mpc, and whenever i put in any card the whole thing would freeze, I held a lamp to the card slot and noticed a pin was busted.
