syncing MPC1000 with REASON via Presonus FIREBOX interface

Hi all,
I'm just trying to use my MPC1000 (OS2.1) as an external MIDI controller for REASON via a Presonus FIREBOX audio interface, however, it doesnt appear to be recognizing it...

Am not sure if the problem is with the MPC or the Firebox, as it doesnt appear to be syncing with it properly via the SPDIF breakout cables...

anyone got any ideas?

I am new to the MPC, but I may be able to help. I just got mine 2 days ago, but I've already figured out how to slave it using Sonar.

I have a MOTU 828mkII, but I'm sure its the same concept. Make sure to have the 1k MIDI OUT into your Firepod MIDI IN. Make sure that your FIrepod is configured to recieve MIDI info. Some interfaces have that feature switchable. Then go to reason and make sure to enable it to recieve MIDI notes from your Firepod. That ought to basically do it. Best of luck.

thx for that dude.. well.. wat i've done so far:

-switched Firebox Control Panel Clock source to "SPDIF"
-set MPC to MIDI Out channel A and plugged MPC MIDI OUT (Ch A) into Firebox MIDI IN
-on main MPC screen changed from DRUM to MIDI and MIDI to ON

...but still doesnt seem to be recognizing it properly about all i can think of is the MIDI cable is buggerred... :p

To set up reason for midi, launch the program and go to the the edit menu. Then select preferences and go into Page menu. Scroll down to advanced midi. Select your interface in the external control box (Bus A, B, C, or D) and midi port to sync MPC w/ Reason.

If you plan to use the MPC to control your software, make sure, like BC said, go into the preferences for Reason. You will need to select your 'FIREPOD' for all MIDI INs. Reason will not see the MPC directly because it doesn't have drivers for it, plus you are transmitting timecode through MIDI.

Personally, you might wanna change your timecode to internal, so that Reason is considered the brain. You should still be able to program pads for Reason. Good luck.

ok thx for that guys, have managed to figure out how to trigger Reason as a sound module via midi...

was also wondering.. is there any way to export the MPC sequencer data into Reason format...?
