Ive installed a hard drive into my 1000, ive followed all the steps in the manual for connecteing the MPC to a PC. The computer recognised & installed it when i plugged in the USB cable, now....the MPC hard drive shows up in the USB device manager as being connected but it doesnt appear in My Computer as it should, have i missed something???

I think you mean that you can see the FLASH CARD via USB but not the hard drive.

On the mpc's LOAD/SAVE screens select HARD DRIVE instead of FLASH at the top left of the screen. I don't have my mpc with me, can't lay it out any clearer than that.

mine shows up as hard grive G:\ in the Explorer. Also, you have to FORMAT it with the mpc, takes about 3 seconds.

I believe you hit the WINDOW key in the LOAD/SAVE screens. I don't have my mpc with me. It's definitely in the LOAD/SAVE windows, poke around a bit.

I had this problem when I first installed the hard drive but, I don't remember the solution other than....
Did you select HARD DRIVE in the load/save window before you selected the USB tab?

If not, try that. You should get a FOUND NEW HARDWARE or some such come up in a speech bubble above the system tray on your PC screen first time you connect it to show it has detected it.

If you already tried that, come back and we'll see if we can reproduce the problem.

EDIT:
You also need to give it 30 seconds or so to register the disc before it shows it.

I believe the option is "UTILITY"
on the Load/Save page.
