I bought the memory expansion kit so that my mpc 1k would have more memory for me to sample sounds etc;...

I installed it perfectly and it was working fine. I cut it off the other day after playing around and it gave me this error:

MPC 1000 Boot Block ver. 1.03

it was checking the memory and the first scan was fine the second scan was not.

Can ANYONE help me with this?
I am not sure if it is really a memory error or a OS error...

Thanks

you can easily destroy the RAM simply by touching it. try taking it out, test the MPC out for errors, then reinstall the chip.... if you can, test the RAM on a computer using memory testing software which can report physical problems.....

Thanks ED,

I removed the memory and it booted up fine... placed it back and it gave me an error. I had heard it was very fragile and tried not to do anything to it. The issue I had was when I originally installed it it worked absolutely fine... i shut it on and off for a few days... and it was still fine. The last time I shutdown, it just never came back up. So for me it was very odd.

I didn't have anything to test the memory on so I just went back to the dealer and exchanged it for another one and now it is perfect. I hope...
So thank you for trying to help me. i will hopefully chalk this one up to faulty memory and not user or operator error.

Cheers
