MPC1000 and midisync

I have been an MPC2000xl user for quite some time and have more recently got into using PC sequencers on my laptop. I will never give up my MPC though. I am in the position where I will be travelling for the next year or two making music and I am considering getting an MPC1000 mainly for its portibility and the USB connection but I am concerned about the lack of MTC. I know it has midi beat clock but this does not allow the MPC to recognise what position in the song the PC sequencer is at if I use the PC as the slave. Only MTC allows for this. The reason I ask is becasue at some stage I would like to perhaps loop a 4 bar pattern in the PC and hear the corresponding point in the MPC being played. Is there any way around this?

i havent locked the mpc with my mac TOO many times. but the times i did, when i would use the mpc's < BAR > keys to move to a different bar, digital performer would follow. IOW, i set the mpc to bar 5, DP goes to bar 5 along with it.

I have never encountered song postition pointer. Can you tell me abit about it.
