$4 plus shipping from VST if you live in the states
or you could use the button from another button you never use (for me it's numeric) in its place.

Thanks bro. I have been reading up on these forums for over year. I just bought my first MPC about 9 months ago and you and lampdog have given me the most info....thanks.

is it compacted under the metal? i had one like that but i carefully put it back through its hole and its been fine for months now. try taking your metal skin off and refitting it.

No the actual plastic broke.I already opened it up and took it out because I didn't want it to be bouncing around inside my MPC. It could get caught on something and cause mre problems. But I replaced it with my numeric button and called vst. Does anyone have a name and a extension to a actual rep there? I called and I had to leave a message because i didn't know anyone or their extension....

this is another problem with the 1k (and possibly the 2500, though i've not had one of those apart yet: donors pm me
) the button design is sh!t, there's no two ways about it. basically, the button pivots around two tabs at the top of the button, which will eventually break, cos that's what plastic does when it's bent back and forth many times. they should have made an actual hinge in my view, though we all know the 1k was the beta test mpc.
and thus is not made properly.
