Pro-Toolz .Wav Work Around

Besides loading my sample up into another program - has anybody been able to save .wav files out of Pro-Tools and load them up into your 1000?

Everytime I try (and I've tried exporting and bouncing) to save a .wav outta pro-tools and load up into my 1000 I get "WRONG FILE FORMAT"

ideas?

I'm using Pro-Tools 5.1.3 on a MAC OS 9. something and something

Sample with the S/PDIF instead od makin a bounce

make sure you are bouncing to 16 bit 44.1k. I got that error once when I tried to load a 24 bit wav file.

Just an idea- don't know cause I've never used Pro Tools but...

In Cubase SX, you can select from two types of .wav format, the normal one, and another called [I think] broadcast wav, which includes more info than a usual .wav but still writes the file as '.wav'.

If pro tools does this, it might be confusing the MPC. Check your Pro Tools save options, and if it's doing that, set it to normal wav format.

Word - I make sure everythings at 16bit 44.1 so I'm straight there - check this out...when I'm looking at the file in the Macintosh Finder in the field to the right next to the date it was created it says it's a Pro-Tools Document (I have a feeling this is where the problem lies) -

So my question is, has any one been able to save a .wav file out of Pro-Tools and load it up into your 1000? If so, how did you do that?

Altough I haven t tried this yet. Try saving the wav bounce as multiple mono instead of Stero interleaved.


I have already tryed loading bounces made at 16bit 44.1Khz in Stereo interleaved with no luck. So i had to sample thing with the S/PDIF

I have no problem sampling out of Pro-Tools into the 1000 - the only thing is having to trim your loop or sound again (know what I'm saying)

But if all else fails sampling it is!!!

Use quicktime to convert the pro-tools wav to quicktime wav....then it will always open.

You can make the process automatic using applescripts too!

I have trouble opening a lot of wav after editing in different programs...I suspect it is the problem of poor standards with the wav file format

I just tried opening a wav from pro tools and got the same error. I noticed when I bounce next to wav it says bwf. I figure this is another type of wave file other than a standard windows wav. When you convert using peak or sound hack, it gives you options of a couple different wav types. So I think there is no way to get around converting.

Quicktime - hmmm - how do you do this? an easy step by step?

QuickTime WAV? Whazzat? If by that they mean 44.1KHz 16 bit, mono or stereo, then go for that, it's what the MPC uses. Otherwise, just look for the settings that give you that format. (I don't do ProTools or Mac, so I can't tell you where to look exactly...)

Yeah the MPC reads Quicktime .Wav's - I just need some insight on loading the .wav from PT up into Quicktime and converting to a .Wav I can use in my 1000 - I probably could figure it out when I get home tonight but for the sake of discussion...
