COMPACT FLASH CARD DRIVE BROKEN.

Hey guys. I want to know if you guys know where i can get another drive for my flash card, you know the little slot at the front, because the little pins in mine have bent and broken? Do you know where i could order another one or get it fixed???

anybody know if these card readers are pricey and easy to install? i got a harddrive comin and wont need it but what if i want to pull a kanye and steal peoples drums hahahhah...2000xl's got cf readers too...on the real tho, i was thinkin bout sellin it and you know how people get..they think cause one things broken, something else gotta be wrong with it. luckily i got a durable 2000

Parts are not that expensive. MPCStuff also has parts

vst is an authorised dealer,but it might cost you more plus the part it self.If you know how to soder it will save you more money.you can order from akai's parts dept.or order online and look for a cf type 2 cf reader. the cost at akai is about $135 for the part.online it's about $49-89 bucs.i would do alittle home work before i spend some money on vst

i saw one go for cheap like $30 on ebay once. if youre patient might be able to snag it that way.

if theyre only bent you can fix them yourself.

open up the mpc (the bottom) and take out the small circuit board that houses the CF drive and the headphone+footswitch sockets.

the CF drive has a metal cover that goes over the top of the drive which can be taken off (i did all this about 6 months ago so im sorry if the details are a bit hazy). once that metal cover is off you can really easily see and acess the pins.

get a pair of very fine tweezers (im a university biology student so we do dissections all the time - dissecting tweezers were exactly the thing that was needed - long and very fine) and begin to bend the pins back into position. some of my pins were bent in the middle and at the base but you only need to get the point of the pin in the right position. when you think theyre in the right position, gently push in the CF card and it will straighten the pins out itself. if the card doesnt go in, remove it, and reposition the pins again
