getting the hang of things

well ive had my mpc 1000 for three weeks now...and i finally can visualize the whole concept...please let me know if i am correct:

1 sample record
2 chop sample and extract chops
3 program each pad in the program function with each chop
4 set up new sequence with the program
5 play back sample first or organize drum pattern first
6 each pad bank represents a different program
7 after you set up each sequence you put in the song mode and align each sequence your desired order
8 once finish set up effects and edit each step in step sequence edit
9 youre finished

please let me know if i am correct or not?

That's one way to do it. I personally add effects while I'm creating the sequence. Also, each pad bank doesn't represent a different program. You have a program, in which you can assign up to 64 pads of sequences, so each pad bank represents 16 samples that can be triggered by each pad. You can also create new programs that give you another up to 64 pads of samples to assign. And you can load up as many samples as your RAM allows.

I think that some people might disagree with your methods, but IMO it comes down to whether or not you (especially you) and other people like your music, and whether or not it will sell. Hip Hop (the music I like to make) partly is about challenging the status quo and pushing the envelope, both in music and in life, and so it is important for me to remember that there is a lot of wiggle room in ways to produce and make sounds come together. There are technicians that would probably rip apart the methods that you or I use. When I was into photography I used to go on forums and photographers would scoff at my methods, but they didn't know I was making money with them!
