Ive learned just about all the basics on my mpc1000. Meaning I haven't gotten very far. Although I will say I've created some nice joints(All my joints are on point..lmao) I still have questions concerning looping, overlapping(I think thats what one would call it), and breakbeats and playing my own sampled drums.
First off concerning looping....its a fairly easy task until you get to the tempo stage. Do I always have to adjust the tempo in order to play my loops? Often times I find my tempo in the 66-76 range which is aweful slow when it comes to drums.
Secondly, I cant overlap samples like most on the MPC2000....this is becoming a problem with each song. As I conjure up new ideas it seems ive come to my creative limit with the MPC1000 and I've only had it for 6mths. I dont know if I dont have the means or If I havent tried everything...
EXAMPLE 1: I sample a melody or intro from an album....then I make it into a sequence. I now want to sample vocals or other intruments and then add them to the original sequence. Is this task POSSIBLE on the MPC1000??...im hoping its something simple I overlooked like layering or something.
Example Breakbeats: Say I just wanna get a drum loop from my PC(BOOM BAP 4SEC LOOP) or a bassline or synth from a rock album. I know I can sample these things but it goes back to my original question in Example 1 can I overlap it onto a seqeunce ALREADY CREATED and if so how?
Furthermore, If I find a premade drum loop or sample off a breakbeat album HOW will I adjust the drum TEMPO to my sample TEMPO...or will it sync?
Keep in mind I dont have a memory upgrade so I can load hella sounds up only my drums and my sample. I've tried to sample an album then load up breaks and play them ontop of the sample but I've failed. All POSITIVE feedback would be appreciated....Thank You
