who here leaves their EQ and compression master FX settings on while makin a beat?

(come on.... shouldn't we make the beat THEN fatten it up?)

your reasoning makes sense, but I'm new to MPCs and i've only had mine a few days and am still learning the ropes.

whats your advice on using the master EQ and stuff?

i use it but i don't track with it. i use it to get an idea of what the beat would/should sound like when it's done tracked and recorded

i think it depends on what yer use to.. i prefer using the master fx when i've finished the beat.. the EQ and compression take the beat to the next level. With regards to settings... just use yer ears and tweak untill the kicks are deep and the snares are snappy. With the EQ, i like to do a 5-6dB boost at around 80-90 Hz to bring out the low end of the kick.. but it all depends on the samples your using and the style of music i guess.

me too. I use the eq mainly on high frequencies to have an 'exciter-like' crystal clear effect on the whole audioflow.
