midi controller

hey i was wondering how many of you guys use midi controllers for the mpc 1000 instead of the pads and why??? thanks

I use an E-mu XBoard61 but not instead of pads. Together with them. Sometimes sparing the pads from hard work.

use both. usually i use the pads for drums and percussion, and a controller for melodic samples (pianos, strings, anything that is chords and notes, not just triggering). sometimes tho using the controller to make beats or the pads to do melodies leads to new ways of thinking and can get me out of a rut....
