problem loading samples!?!?

I have been using some sample kits that I got from someone for a while. I have a bunch of sounds that I got online now and I can load up the programs that I saved, but I cant load anything directly and assign it to a pad.
The only thing thats different now from before is I upgraded to the JJOS 3.06 from the Akai 2.11.
How do I fix this?? I have sounds that I want to use, but I cant load them.
Can someone please help me on this?

are you sure these new samples are 1. -.wav - files and 2. in 16bit?

Its the same samples that I was already using, not new ones, just some basic drum sounds, but along with that I'm having problems loading samples from my computer through the usb also. But that was before I upgraded the OS.
