JJ? OS? which is better

i just purchased my MPC second hand and everything works fine, i had previously worked on a korge electribe esx-1 and the dr. sampler series, all this talk of different operating systems is confusing to me. what os do i have if i haven't loaded any new hardward into mine. it still says 16mb installed on the startup- thats the custom setting correct. i have also noticed that when i have a sequence playing and i attempt to sample from anything- keyboard,guitar,electribe, the whole thing freezes and locks up. is this something that it always does and should be avoided or am i just a stupid rookie mpcist. if anyone has any other helpful info would be much appreciated, anything from looping drums to technical stuff would be cool. thanks

there is lots of info on this site about the JJ os. the complete consensus is that jj os pisses all over the akai os.

try both and make up your own mind, nothing bad will happen and you will become:

enlightened.

as regards the mpc locking up when sampling, i don't know anything about this issue. have you tried transferring samples via usb? it's not a fix, but may help in the short term.
