Sampling...

I wanted to use an mpc 1000 to sample from a turntable.. do i just need the table and my mpc or do i need a preamp? also i wanted to use something like reason to chop the samples..could i sample into the mpc say a loop or sumtin then bring it to my computer via usb?thnx for the help..

Your goint to need a pre-amp. And yes you can import the sample back into your computer then export it back.

i saw that the Stanton STR8-80 doesent need a mixer/preamp. It that true?..also how would i get the sounds from the vinyl to the mpc once its hooked up..theres not lke a "record vinyl" button is there...lol...also, can i do complete meloides on the mpc 1000, piano, strings, syth.. etc.?

From the spec, it gives line-level out, no preamp will be needed. You can just hook it up to the Record In ports. It also has a digital interface, which should work on the Digital in, as long as the digital rate is 44100, I can't see that in the Stanton manual...
There was another question on this yesterday., first time I heard of this turntable, looks tempting, to me, a geek who hasn't touched vinyl since about 1991..!

You can do complete tracks on the MPC as you suggest, as long as you have the memory capacity and don't exceed the 32-note polyphony. I'm mapping melodic samples to pads and playing them from a MIDI keyboard into sequences that way, i just need more memory... or you can just sequence the MIDI and send it to other external synths via MIDI out.

I have a turntable going into a dj mixer, then the master out on the dj mixer going into the mpc1k, then the outputs on the 1k going to a 12 channel mixer. I like using a dj mixer because it lets you drop out bass, mids or highs, (some get even more complex), but thats how i like to sample off of turntables.

What kinda mixer do you have???

My dj mixer is the numark dm1001X, and my big one is a behringer eurorack mx 2004A.

Well if your turntable doesn't need a preamp then go straight into ya MPC1K. If it does need a preamp, plug it into ya DM100X, take the output of that to the MPC1K or directly to the Eurorack. If you choose to go to the Eurorack...then of course take the outputs of that and go into ya MPC1K. If you want to EQ the sound then I would go through both the Numark & Behringer. Make sure you have some good quality cables too, don't want no unwanted noise.

My set up is fine, I was telling fokesd how i have a turntable running to the mpc, like he asked.
