recording in

After i record in i go to mode trim. then i pick the sample and hit chop. then i hit edit. then i hit convert. then i hit sliced samples. and ii create a new program. when i choose the program an hit a pad there is no sound.
this happens with samples i record in with a cd player.
when I record in to my mpc with a cd player the wave lenghs for the sample is just a straight line. unlike my other samples that are all wavy. I think this is wats causing the problem.

How can i fix this

i found out what it was today
it was trying to record in stereo when it was mono recording.
i guess i just have to keep playing around with it.
