Hey me again, with a new problem. My pads 1-6 are completely broken now. My mpc is 4 years old and I have been relying on a mpd 16 just to use my kits. I have read previous posts about diy pad replacement for the mpc 1000 but the whole process seems like I am just going to destroy my MPC even more (aluminum foil). Is there any site that can repair this for me? Is there any site that can give me address of authorized akai repair shops?

You can buy new genuine pads from Akai service agents. I don't know about the rest of the world, but here in the UK, they can be obtained for about £6 each plus shipping. Hardly extortionate and easy to fit.

A user here called Antonym has devised and created a fix based on alternate technology than that which is used in the 1K itself. I'm not sure as to what the release status is on this.

It has also been announced that Akai are releasing their own pad upgrade kit. There has benn no official public announcement from Akai, nor is there a date of release.

Hope that helps.
