Would you get a Hard Drive for the 1000?

This harddrive idea will be very usable if they are able to give us sample playback directly from the Hard Drive. That way we'll save a lot of memory space. The only thing is that with 128 ram installed there's not really the need for this. But i'll surely get it.

Just got an email back from Akai and they say they are making a hardrive for it. Not sure when it will be out or how much it will cost.

I already use a laptop so I would be more interested in getting a good interface A/D and midi etc. To me it wouldn't be a big deal. Also it would probably be just as cheap to buy a laptop if you didn't have one than buy an AKAI one. Plus with a laptop you could use whatever software that's needed.

Like someone else stated I don't really see the point of giving the 1000 a harddrive unless Akai gives it better editing capabilities. The hard drive might be good for live gigs to store all your sounds though. I'm pretty sure there are a lot of people that will make good use of it.

I would use the hard drive just to store beats. I have a super small great sony vaio laptop and 4 really good computers. But I dont need any software. I use pro tools at home and in the studio. I make beats strictly from sampling vinyl. All I use is an Mpc. I like it like that. I make low key hip hop beats. So I think for people who like to makes beats on the Mpc 1000 and who are making maybe beats that do not require tons of software or for people maybe just making a jam, like me, a hardrive is great. You can make tons of beats and save them right there. All in one. Pick up and go. Just my opinion.
