Question: what are you going to do about the lettering on the case?

Yo that is sick. I have been wanting to do the same thing. But mount another screen on the top of my omnirax desk with an extra long cable. so i can look at my monitor and mpc screen at the same time. or have a external plug of some sort.

what did you use anyway?

That does look like a rather adventurous bit of engineering - hats off to that.

What kind of paint do y'all recommend for an MPC1000.

I was thinking some kind of automotive paint would do the trick....something that doesn't chip or scratch easily. Any thoughts ?

I'm going to leave it the way it is.

I used some hinges. Not exactly sure what they are but I told the person at the hardware store what I was doing so they looked around and found a few things I could try. And the case that it sits in is made out of a really thin plastic coated in a little bit of bondo and then fiber glass. And the hinges are connected to the mpc with some aluminum. I bent it and then drilled 2 holes and conected it to the hinges which connect to some clamps on the back of the new lcd case.
I made this before I started but this is what the paint will look like. I just feel like it's enspiring so this is what I chose. The end covers right now are the yellow color and not red.

i hope you can find a remote control with it so you can pop up the screen from your sofa

I might do that. I already took out the motor out of an old rc car and have it hooked up like a gear on the levers. Once I have that worked out it will spin and raise the screen as I hold forward and then reverse will drop it back down. Now I just need to know where I should hook it up because it runs on 5v. Maybe Ill splice it with the pads.

whats the point though was my whole gripe with this "mod"

rohan did something brilliant

jj did something brilliant

ant did something brilliant

but

whats the point of this????

i could see if you were an electronic and mechanic and doing this for someone else, but your supposed to be using that thing for making music

whatever though, have fun with your creation, i mean that sincerely...

I see why every on hates it and says to just use a book. But theres no fun in that and it's not finished... It will look better and be more stable because right now it wiggles around and sits too high.
Doing this is alot like modding xbox cases which is pretty easy and it just makes things more "fun" to look at. I probably wont be finished until another 2-3 weeks. I guess it's a waste of time but I'm going to finish it until I'm sastified. If every one but a few are going to say it looks like shit then good for them. It's like walking up to some one whos working on a car and isnt even half way there and saying "That's looks horrible." But it's not even the final product.
Oh well good for you guys. Ill be happy with it in a month.
