does metronome effect the chopping of a sample.

i chopped a sample like 50 million times. everytime i chopped it and tried to play it back on the pads. to much of the sample would be on one pad and i would have to wait for that part of the sample to stop to play the next pad.

i tried the edit start and endpoints but it just doesnt work for me. i have to be doin something wrng.

a freind of mine told me that i have to have my metronome in sync with the sample in order to chop it right. and that doesnt make sense to me. becuz i never really see people on you tube sync their metronome to the sample. they just chop it up and play it back.

Lol, you aren't chopping on beat.. 16 equal chops is 16 equal chops regardless of the tempo, but if ur trying to hit the pads in correspondence with ur metronome, the sample has to be the same tempo.

thats the basic answer at least. . .

yea bro sounds like the tempo you have set is different from the bpm of the sample. Also dont take youtube to serious. What your most likely seeing is the guys laying the beat after they have set all the chops up and have a basic concept of where the beat is going

and how do you do dat. maybei shouldmake a video on and then u can understand wat im saying. i dnt think it has nothing to do wit the metronome. but if that is the problem how do u fix dat

You should just chop on the kick and snare @ first (if its a sample with drums in it). If not, chop on the hit/attack of the sample. And you should get the JJ OS. It'll make chopping easier.

are you asking how u chop in sync with the tempo?


well if u haven't edited the sample at all as far as time stretching to fit the seq. tempo, then u have to chop according to the number of beats in the sample, then adjust ur sequencer tempo accordingly, theres really a ton of ways to chop to achieve what ur looking for
