Chopping beats in a Mac/transfer to MPC

So I just got myself a Mac and I'm having a hard time adjusting. For the past year or so I was using Soundforge to record my samples then chopping them in SF and using Bluebox to transfer over to my MPC via USB. Now I just found out that SF and BB don't exist for Mac. I messed around with MPC 187 which I guess is the equivalent to BB, but right away I could tell you can't compare the two. BB has way more features. Can one of you Mac users breakdown how you go about chopping samples and then transferring them to your MPC? Thanks!

If you still want to chop samples on a Mac, then I highly recommend ReCycle 2.1.

Before I got the JJ OS, I use to use this free program that came with my Mac (and I still use it every now and then) call Sound Studio. Its pretty dope. If you do a search, you can find it. Welcome to the world of Macs!

Yeah, but you don't wanna try do any serious chopping in Garageband. I know that program pretty well, and you can only chop things to a certain extent. You're very limited to how small and where you can chop. And the only solution to where you can chop can only be remedied by a very, very, very time-consuming and tedious process.
And besides listening to music, the only thing I use iTunes for is file conversion (which has come in handy for me over the years).
So if he wants to use Mac software (software engineered by Apple), the least he'll have to buy is Logic Express. But if you just want something for Mac, I would use Audacity like Distorted said (for a free audio editing program , you cant beat it. Or, cop that Sound Studio like I mentioned before. I'm telling you, that program is pretty sick. Don't sleep on it.

what are you talkin about man you can chop it into a size that is possible. save it, open it in itunes, convert it like you said and then let the mpc chop the rest.... there is no need to spend more money... dont you think?

Does Apple really develop Logic? I thought they just bought the company that did and then put their name on it.

Audacity is a free editor, and it edits pretty well..
I use Recycle a lot, it makes perfect slices at the zero crossing, and exports all your slices to individual wav files in a folder. I used 187 to make a program really quick, transfer everything to the MPC, then load up my new program and do any other Program edits from there. It's pretty fast once you get the hang of it.

i had your exact situation, for years i used soundforge on windows to chop my samples. then i got a mac and to my surprise i could not find any audio editor to my liking. anyways i found this new program (only a few months old) called twistedwave thats good. cost like $30 bucks though.
