Tryin to sync MPC and Pro Tools

Aight guys, I'm looking to track my beats in Pro Tools, here's the setup right now:

- MPC 1000, without JJ connected to Mbox (on Mac) via audio and midi cables.
- MPC setup with Mbox on Audio MIDI Setup screen on computer
- On MPC, Type shows MIDI and Midi: 1A
- On PT, Instrument track created with MPC ch 1 selected
- I can here the sounds from my MPC on PT, but I get nothing when I go to record any MIDI. Where the notes should be PT, it just scrolls across and makes the lines blue, but doesnt add any notes.

Am I missing something? From all the posts and the manual, it looks as if I have everything set up correctly, any thoughts?? Thanks in advance for the help.

Aint that the truth!

I am just guessing here, but I think your problem might be that you have selected an instrument track in Pro Tools. Wouldn't you want a MIDI track? It seems to me like an instrument track would be to record actual audio whereas MIDI is just data. Again, I am just guessing here, maybe an instrument track is a midi track in PT, I have no idea. I empathize because for beginers MIDI can be very confusing, and the responses here were a little harsh, albeit funny.
