Recording from mpc1000 to my home computer

Another question, dont know if it was asked but i was lookin around on the forum for it, im just wonderin how i would be able to record my tracks onto the computer so i can burn em n make a instrumental cd or somethin.......some feedback would be greatly appreciated.....thanx

Depends on your computer / soundcard. In most cases it will be as simple as getting a 2 x 1/4" phone to 1 x minijack cable (Radio Shack or similar will have them) and connecting to your computer's audio in (assuming your computer has one). For better sound quality you'll need to start looking at soundcards or audio interfaces designed for recording. Check the Studio Environments forum.

yea i juss bought a new dell, so i dunno what kinda soundcard n shit..............fill me in more, cuz i really wanna get these tracks on the computer, im tryin to let some people hear my shit n get some feedback on em.........thanx

what do u mean by this...............would i juss get the wire, hook a smaller adapter to it, plug it into my computer???? if so, where do i hook it up into the mpc1k???

CHeck this...


get a dual cable that turns into a single cable (Send / Receive Cable).

Then buy an a 1/4"inch adapter that transforms the plug into a headphone jack.

THEN... open cool edit pro (if you dont hav eit, get it, or something like it, such as cubase or something). (I think cubase records, someone correct me if i'm wrong).

THEN.... plug it into your STEREO OUT and then the small end into your "mic in" on your dell sound card.

Then click record in cool edit, then play your song on your MPC. Cool edit should record that b!tch right in. Then do some trimming in Cool edit, save it as a WAV, and then you're done!

I would not bother with all that.

Once the song is written and with the memory expansion, you can re-sample the completed song as a new wav file in the Record Screen and save that to CF card for transfer to yor computer. No interface needed. Simple.

yea i've been thinking about what 3000 said cause that would be so much easier. you could transer just one file and then make a cd or convert it to mp3 to send online or make available for streaming.

Being that the 1000 has a built in eq and effects, that makes the most sense! Good post
