Scrathing on an MPC 1000

What's good everybody?

I'm kinda new here. My name is Cheez Da Producer. Anyway, I saw this video on youtube and I was amazed. I saw this dude scratching on an mpc 1000 using the pad and slider. I'm figuring the slider was linked up to control the pitch, but when I tried it sounded like pure ish. So, I was wondering if anyone knew how to do this. Thanks

in my dictionary, an mpc is used to make beats, sequence your music, sample some stuff and chopping it, a turntable and a mixer are used to make scratches..

Homie, I mean no disrespect, but isn't the point of using a machine to stretch it's capabilities? Just because one person defines an mpc as one thing doesn't mean you have to fall into that box. I seriously doubt that when MPC's were first made the creators were thinking, "oh all those kids in the hood are gonna reinvent sound by making new songs with old ones." Come on man, aren't we all here to learn ways to make that mpc do things that even the inventors couldn't imagine? I know I am. You can actually see the videos at the following links

the last one was done on a 2000 xl

I'm not sure but I think how it's done is by putting the sample on mono playback with it set to note on. The Q-link slider is maybe set to pitch. Not really sure, still trying it to have little success. Anyone else out there figure out a way?

he aint scratching to me it sounds like his got a scratch sample in there and his just using the slider to automate the volume

the point of using a machine isn't to stretch it capabilities, it's about knowing it's capabilities and what you want to do with it, sure you can import a libary scratch sound en mess around with the start or volume point with a slider, but that doesn't sound very capability stretching to me

what do you think he set his pitch parameters at?

I have a question...

why does my track change pitch while I trigger the sample and adjust the pitch on the slider?

nevermind... I didn't know that you could assign the slider just to one pad... is there a way to assign it to 3 pads?
