Hi,

I'm still waiting on the MPC1000 to get here in the mail so I apologize if my question is too "annoying" for the experienced users.

Is anybody using the MPC1000 as a serious sound module to play chords, articulations, musical phrases, etc. chromatically on a keyboard?

This question can be better borken down like this:

Is there control of:
Attack
Decay
Sustain
Resease?

Are there any good (commercial or free) chromatic patches/programs for the mpc1000 out there or can good-sounding quality patches like pianos, pads, strings, etc. be created for this purpose?

BTW, I know JJ OS supports auto-chromatic assignments but my question is more specific.

Thanks!

Not at all: the fact you're doing research before buying the mpc1000 is your saving grace

The mpc is very limited as a sampler, you only have a simple attack/decay envelope, and no easy way to map multisamples across the pads/keys. Bear in mind it's meant for drums. That's not to say there aren't workarounds, and many people use the 1k to great effect, but don't expect things to be easy if you're looking for a fully fledged sampler.

hope this helps.
