ok..i use a motif es8 and supernove2 board...would an mpc1k.

would an mpc1k give me anything more? i mean i could just sequence on the motif i guess...but what would my advantages be? It would be nice to have a seperate drum unit but if i hook up my motif can i record parts into the mpc1000 and they will play back later on various tracks>?

I am new to sequencing and just wondering the advantage to having an mpc1k with the motif?> thanx

I think the main advantage would be the drum-oriented nature of the MPC, especially having pads to hit - but you can get the pads separately for less (Akai MPD16). I've never used the Motif sequencer, so I can't compare the solidity, I can't see it being bad. That leaves the sampler section, the MPCs really records great samples and is drum-focused, it has layering of multiple samples, but none of the frills you get on a full sampler. (No automapping or cross-fading.)

I have a Motif 6 and use the MPC1000 to sequence the Motif. I find that the sequencer in the MPC is more intuitive and has a more "on the fly" feel to it. You have to start and stop the Motif sequencer way too much and it breaks up the vibe a lot while working. The Motif ES may be different, but I really like the MPC sequencer.
